Esther and Ezekiel Muteesasira
Ugandan sibling duo, Esther and Ezekiel Muteesasira won the hearts of many music fans in East Africa, during 2019’s East Africa’s Got Talent (EAGT) competition, with their angelic voices. The two went through every stage of the competition and were eventually announced as the first-ever winners of the competition.

Upon winning the competition, Ezekiel and Esther were presented with a dummy cheque of the $ 50,000 grand prize. It seems that that was the only cheque the two ever got from the show organizers as they have taken to social media to complain.

The $ 50,000 reward is equivalent to over 170 million UGX. A sum that could change someone’s life in an instant.  The duo made the claims that they have not been paid, through a statement, on their joint Facebook account.

The duo noted that even though they were grateful for being able to participate in the event, they still needed the money as it wasn’t just for them. They had promised to donate part of their winnings to some charities.

The two asked their fans what they should do in the situation. Fans were ready to comment, and they expressed their disbelief that such a major show could supposedly stiff participants of their well-earned prize money.

The siblings also implied, in the comment section, that they have not heard anything from the show organisers since the competition ended.

Meanwhile, the last official communications from EAGT, was through their social media channels, when they were announcing the duo as the two winners of the competition, back in October 2019.

It is hard to believe that the organisers do not have any money as they included the likes of, Tanzanian Clouds TV, Coca Cola, Safaricom, and Rapid Blue, a South African production company behind the ‘South Africa Got Talent’.

The show also called upon some of East Africa’s most well-known and highest-paid celebs to play major roles in the show. The celebs involved in the show included Jeff Koinange, Kansime, Gaetano Kaggwa, Vanessa Mdee, and DJ Contact Makeda.

Attempts to reach out to Rapid Blue haven’t borne any fruits as of yet. We will inform you if anything comes up.
