Daniel Lubwama Kigozi, popularly known as Navio is one of those rappers who have put Uganda on the map and for good reasons. 

Known for producing hits that are enjoyed both locally and internationally, Navio has had a successful career in the music industry and along with winning awards and winning the hearts of millions of fans across the globe, he has also made money from his music.

According to several online sources, Navio’s net worth is $600,000 which roughly equates to about UGX 2.2 billion. He has accumulated this incredible wealth from his work as a musician.

Music has been a great part of Navio’s identity and it has also been a major contributor to Navio’s net worth.

Navio grew up listening to his older brother’s music collection of rap music by international artists like Vanilla Ice, Beastie Boys, and MC Hammer. 

He would try to imitate them and he was so good at it that when he was only ten years old, his mother took him to Baava studio to record a song after hearing him rapping like Vanilla Ice.

At 16 years old, Navio’s music career officially kick started his career as a rapper when together with his four friends, he formed the hip hop group Klear Kut and in 2000 they released their first album Mind, Body and Soul featuring some stars including Juliana Kanyomozi and Bebe Cool.

Klear Kut enjoyed immense success across East Africa following their first album and they earned a Kora nomination.

In the next few years, the group performed in big concerts across East Africa including the Miss Uganda and Miss Kenya pageants, Bongo All-Stars in Tanzania, and the Coca Cola Race in Kenya. The group also earned the best hip hop group award at the Pearl of Africa Music Awards.

After taking a break to pursue his studies, Navio released his debut solo album Half the Legend in 2009 featuring some popular artists like Kenya’s Juacali and GNL Zamba. The album was a success and helped him relaunch himself in the industry.

Since 2010, he has been a member of an African musical supergroup called One8 and in 2014, he was among the artists who were featured in Coke Studio Africa season two.

Currently 38 years old, Navio was born on 18 October 1983 in Kampala, Uganda to an affluent home. He is the last born in a family of three and has an older brother (Fred) and an older sister (Michelle) 

Navio’s father was the late Engineer Fredrick Kigozi who passed on in 1994 and his mother is renowned doctor Maggie Kigozi.

Besides being a talented rapper, Navio is also well-educated. He attended Entebbe Church Nursery for infant school and St. Andrews in Kenya for his primary school. 

He then went to Aga Khan Secondary school and ISSA (International school of South Africa) before joining Monash University in South Africa where he studied International Relations and Media Studies.

Is Navio the richest rapper in Uganda?

Navio’s net worth places him among the richest rappers in Uganda along with the likes of Da-Agent, J-Wats, Babaluku, and Lyrical G.
